After hurricane Dorian, the best way to help the Bahamas is by actually going to the Bahamas. Veuer’s Maria Mercedes Galuppo has more.
Hurricane Humberto — now a Category 2 hurricane as of Tuesday morning — is predicted to slam Bermuda with heavy rain and winds in the middle of the week, according to the National Weather Service. A tropical storm warning is in effect.
USA TODAY has reached out to major airlines and cruise lines for information about their Hurricane Humberto plans. Here’s a look at what companies are offering so far (this information is up to date as of Sept. 17 at 9 a.m.).
Which airlines are offering Humberto flight waivers so far?
Travelers should check with airlines on specific details of each waiver.
Delta Air Lines: Delta is offering customers traveling to, from or through Bermuda Spet. 16-19 several options for changing flights. Tickets have to be reissued on or before Sept. 22.
American Airlines: American also is giving customers traveling to, from or through Bermuda Sept. 16-19 a change option and will waive fees on trips with the same origin or destination with some stipulations.

Which cruise lines are updating itineraries?
Carnival Cruise Line: Carnival updated itineraries for two of its ships, the Sept. 15 Carnival Pride sailing out of Baltimore and the Sept. 16 Carnival Sunrise trip out of New York.
- Carnival Pride: Scheduled to sail to Bermuda on Sept. 18 and Sept. 19, though will now will sail to Grand Turk and Amber Cove on those dates, respectively
- Carnival Sunrise: Scheduled to sail to Bermuda on Sept. 18 and Sept. 19, though now will sail to Charleston, South Carolina, on Sept. 18 and be at sea on Sept. 19
Residents, rescue teams and aid workers across the storm-battered northern Bahamas breathed a sigh of relief when Humberto, which reached hurricane status Sunday night, steered wide of the beleaguered island nation.
The Florida coast also won an apparent reprieve as forecasters predicted Humberto would turn sharply to the northeast early this week and well off the U.S. coast.
