With Father’s Day coming this Sunday, Amazon is slashing prices left and right on some of our favorite electronics, Kindles included. All three are fantastic deals, as these best-selling e-readers are not on sale all that often, especially at these prices. If you know your dad has been meaning to catch up on his spy novels, then he’ll certainly love receiving any one of the popular Kindle e-readers this Sunday (while you’ll appreciate the extra savings).
How much can you save on a new Kindle?
No matter what your budget is, finding a Kindle that’s right for you (or Dad) is easy. They just lowered the price of the Kindle Paperwhite to $100 (originally $130), the Kindle Oasis to $200 (originally $250), and the standard Kindle to $70 (originally $90).
While the 10th generation Paperwhite, originally released in 2018, happens to be the best Kindle we’ve tested, both the Oasis and entry-level Kindle scored highly in our testing as well, so you can’t go wrong with any option.
Which model should you choose?
When it comes to features, the Paperwhite and Oasis have a fair amount of overlap, like a glare-free display, waterproof body, 300-ppi resolution, and extra long battery life so that they can last for weeks on a single charge. While the basic Kindle—which was newly released in 2019—doesn’t boast these same qualities (its display is 167 ppi, for example), it was re-designed with an adjustable front light (finally!) to make reading easier any time of the day.
The three Kindles also deviate in terms of size and storage. The Oasis, with its metal body and brighter LED backlighting, is the largest at 7 inches, while the Paperwhite and all-new Kindle are more compact, lightweight options with 6-inch displays. You can choose between the 8 GB and 32 GB size for the Paperwhite and Oasis, which translates to thousands of books in storage, whereas the standard-issue Kindle comes with a more modest 4 GB. Honestly, whichever one you choose, space will likely not be an issue, especially because Dad can re-download any book in his library whenever he wants.
While any of these Kindles could make a great gift for Dad this Father’s Day, given these low prices, you may also want to treat yourself to one while you’re at it. Together, you and Dad can breeze through a James Patterson thriller while you’re waiting for the barbecue to heat up this Sunday. Fam goals, am I right?
