A West Point cadet was killed and 20 cadets and two soldiers injured Thursday in a traffic accident on a New York state road during a summer training exercise, according to the U.S. Military Academy.
Army Lt.Col. Christopher Ophardt, an academy spokesman, said the accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. near West Point when a vehicle rolled over.
An ABC News radio reporter tweeted that the accident involved a 5-ton cargo light medium tactical vehicle used in the exercise.
The incident occurred at Camp Natural Bridge, a cadet summer training site near the main campus of the military academy, NBC New York reports.
West Point is located on the Hudson River about 60 miles north of New York City.
