At least 4 West Point cadets were injured Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash during a training accident near the U.S. Military Academy in New York state, according to media reports.
CNN reports at least one person dead in the accident that involved 20 cadets. NBC New York, quoting military police, said one of the cadets was “non-responsive” after being airlifted to a hospital.
The incident occurred at Camp Natural Bridge, a cadet summer training site near the main campus of the military academy, NBC New York reports. West Point is located on the Hudson River about 60 miles north of New York City.
An ABC News radio reporter tweets that a 5-ton cargo light medium tactical vehicle overturned during the training exercise.
The U.S. Military Academy tweeted that an accident occurred near Camp Natural bridge on Route 293 and said emergency vehicles were responding.
West Point spokeswoman Katie Felder said the accident was in an area where cadet summer training takes place.
