Selma Blair is keeping up the candor when it comes to coping after her MS diagnosis.
And that includes how she deals with everyday tasks, like putting on makeup.
“My fine motor skills aren’t like, fine at this moment so I just want to say I’m gonna probably give a makeup tutorial never. But if I do then you know I’m just really trying to have fun,” she said on her Instagram Story Sunday.
Blair said she’s noticed her friends have begun fixing the makeup she’d applied earlier in the day, “and then my manager just said maybe I better not (apply it).”
So the actress posted a good-humored quick fix on her Instagram feed.
“Here is my solution to applying makeup with a lack of fine motor skills. #laugh and feel free to reapply my makeup,” she wrote on Instagram.
The trick? “Brush. Big. Bronzer. There, done. Stop,” said laughing Blair, applying powder to her face with a large, fluffy brush.
Blair revealed last October that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
“I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps… I have had symptoms for years but was never taken seriously… I have probably had this incurable disease for 15 years at least. And I am relieved to at least know. And share.”
In February, after attending the Vanity Fair Oscars party with a custom cane, Blair told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America the biggest lesson MS has taught her. “It’s fine to feel really crappy and say, ‘I gotta,’ ” Blair said. “And my son gets it and now I’ve learned not to feel guilty.”
She admitted she was initially scared of talking, let alone in public.
But she maintained a positive attitude, joking, “No one has the energy to talk when they’re in … a flare-up. But I do, ’cause I love a camera.”
