These two silver screen lovebirds will always remember.
On Monday, Mandy Moore got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and the occasion gifted us with a perfect throwback moment with her “A Walk to Remember” co-star Shane West.
West (who now stars on Fox’s “Gotham”) surprised Moore with a photo of the pair taken when they wrapped the 2002 romance “A Walk to Remember.”
“We couldn’t have been more opposite when we met,” West said at the event, noting he was an eyeliner-wearing garage punk musician at the time while she was “killing it” as an early aughts pop star. “I was trying to get you to listen to The Clash and the Ramones. You were not interested, but you were very sweet about it. And you stuck to your Fleetwood Mac.”
But their “Walk” director Adam Shankman thought they’d be a good fit, he recalled. “What can I say but I’m glad he did,” said West, calling Moore’s energy “irresistible.”
Later, Moore posted a throwback photo on Instagram of her and West. “Stars have always sort of been our thing. Thankful to @theshanewest for his kind words on this very special day, one which I will never forget. It was a walk (of fame) to remember,” wrote Moore on Instagram, sharing then-and-now photos of the famous friends.
Also showing support for Moore at her star ceremony was her new husband, Taylor Goldsmith, Shankman, “This Is Us” show creator Dan Fogelman and Moore’s “fake family,” as Moore called them — including her NBC co-stars Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson, Justin Hartley and Chrissy Metz.
In her speech Monday, Moore also took a moment to speak obliquely about her participation in a New York Times expose about her ex-husband, Ryan Adams. “At this chapter in my life things are starting to feel like they’re coalescing,” she said Monday. “Recently, I have found myself stepping into my power in a new way. I’m finally starting to understand and own who I am. And I feel really lucky.”
And now, let us revisit Moore’s iconic video for “Cry,” which also stars West.
