Selma Blair is continuing to keep fans in the loop when it comes to her experiences with multiple sclerosis. And other people who live with the neurological disease are expressing what her posts mean to them.
Blair, 46, shared a photo of her latest brain scan on Wednesday, marveling at the results with the hashtags “#christmaslights” and “#beautifultrauma.”
“The glowing bits are part of the stuff that makes me feel so different,” she explained. “I love seeing images of my brain. I want to see. I want to see everything I can.”
The post was quickly flooded with comments from fans thanking Blair for speaking out. Several users credited her directly for helping them to identify their own multiple sclerosis symptoms.
“I had no idea what’s going on with my body and I (had) no idea what MS was until I heard about you having it,” one person commented. “I looked it up and OMG I think I have it! I have an appointment in May to discuss it with my doctor. Thank you for raising awareness you are such a trooper”
Another woman who said she’s had MS for 15 years, told Blair that she’s “not really too worried” because “people like you give people like me hope and courage. Not just because you’re famous but instead of quitting you are fighting for yourself and everyone.”
And the inspiring messages weren’t just from other people with MS: fans with a wide variety of health struggles shared how Blair’s strength inspired them.
“Amazing that the crappiest thing that happens in our lives leads us to become our best selves and use whatever platform we have to help other’s get by too,” wrote a user who frequently posts about living with cancer. “You sure helped me today, thank you for sharing your soul. Welcome to the Warrior Club, I think you’re going to be President💛”
