From surprise appearances to bizarre performances, here are 5 can’t-miss moments from the Grammy Awards.
Cardi B’s retirement from Instagram lasted all of two days.
The newly minted Grammy Award-winning rapper returned to Instagram Wednesday to reveal upcoming music following her 48-hour hiatus from the social media site.
“So I’m back from retirement to announce I have a brand new song coming out Friday at midnight with @brunomars,” she captioned a picture of the single’s cover art, along with the hashtag “two Grammy winning artist(s)” and a trophy emoji.
Cardi B, 26, and Bruno Mars, 33, previously collaborated on the remix of his hit single “Finesse,” but did not offer any details on their new song.
Cardi deactivated her Instagram Monday after facing mounting online backlash from trolls who claimed she didn’t deserve her major Grammy win, which made her the first solo female rapper to take home the award for best rap album.
Before temporarily leaving Instagram, Cardi B posted messages from artists including Chance the Rapper, J. Cole and Salt N Pepa, who all congratulated the “Invasion of Privacy” rapper on the historic achievement.
She also defended herself against the criticism, chronicling the blood, sweat and tears she put into her album while trying to conceal her pregnancy from the world.
“Slept in the studio on leather sofas for 3 months straight, migraines, in Atlanta in Miami away from my family,” she wrote to her 39 million Instagram followers. “On top of that I was depress(ed) (because) everybody was suspecting I was pregnant and I constantly kept reading Cardi you ‘STUPID,’ ‘YOU RUINED YOUR CAREER.'”
Cardi B continued: “I listen to my album and I cry because I know the hell I went (through)… THANK YOU EVERYONE THAT SUPPORTED ME AND LISTEN .I’m thankful and grateful.”
It appears the haters couldn’t keep Cardi B down for too long. Okurrrrr.
