HGTV announced that they were the winning bid for the iconic “Brady Bunch” house that was for sale in North Hollywood for nearly 2 million dollars.
Here’s the story … of a lovely reno.
The actors who played the Brady children are joining forces with HGTV to transform the iconic Brady Bunch house into a wicked awesome set from the 1970s, but they need America’s help.
Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Barry Williams (Greg), Eve Plumb (Jan), Christopher Knight (Peter), Susan Olsen (Cindy) and Mike Lookinland (Bobby) – who are currently filming “A Very Brady Renovation” – are enlisting the help of superfans to track down authentic vintage pieces from the original set the grew up on.
“Help us finish the ‘Brady Bunch’ house,” Knight said in a promotional video, before asking: “Do you have these items in your house?”
The cast is looking to track down several iconic pieces, from the green-and-white sofa that graced the Brady family’s living room down to the stuffed-toy giraffe that called the girls’ room home. (Click here for a full gallery of the items.)
“Many of these 1970s items are very rare and hard to find,” Abbi McCollum, vice president of convergence and social media for HGTV, told USA TODAY in a statement. “We’ve seen an incredible response from ‘Brady Bunch’ fans across social media since we first announced the series. Now, we need their help to get the renovation of the house just right.”
If you own any of the mementos and are willing to part ways for the greater groovy good, HGTV is asking fans to send pictures of the items to their social media accounts using the hashtag #verybradyreno.
“Your Brady-era artifact could be a part of ‘A Very Brady Renovation,'” the home network added.
It’s not all “pork chops and applesauce,” though. The HGTV site says they’re asking fans to “contribute” items. We’re guessing that means you can say goodbye to your classic credenza or horse figurine.
HGTV purchased the famed home in August after a much-publicized bidding war with ‘N Sync singer Lance Bass. The North Hollywood home served as the exterior for the iconic ABC sitcom.
